Since 6th April 2025, a new law has given parents whose newborn babies require neonatal care in the first 28 days after birth the right to take up to 12 weeks of paid leave. This support helps families during a very difficult time and is in addition to other types of parental leave. Payroll and HR teams need to understand who qualifies, how the leave works, and what steps to take to manage it correctly.
This webinar will equip professionals with practical knowledge to navigate the new leave entitlement, covering key definitions, eligibility rules including the relationship and caring tests, and how to handle multiple neonatal admissions. Attendees will gain clarity on compliance, payroll processing, and employee support during neonatal care periods.
Key Learnings:
Eligibility criteria for Statutory Neonatal Care Leave and Pay, including qualifying relationships and care requirements
Managing leave notifications, record-keeping, and statutory pay calculations
Practical guidance on supporting employees through neonatal care and navigating repeat admissions within the 28-day window
